The appointment of Austrian manager Ralph Hasenhuttl at Southampton as Mark Hughes replacement can’t be described as anything other than successful – so far.
Our new gaffer not only seemed to largely improve our fight, our spirit and our style of play almost overnight, he also quickly made decisions on players who were not cutting the mustard and made decisions on merit rather than name, as we battled to Premier League safety and avoided what pretty much felt like an inevitable drop.
It wasn’t just his attitude that quickly endeared himself to the faithful, he returned to the Southampton Way and Yan Valery became the poster boy for that as the season came to a close.
A recent report claimed that Hasenhuttl had arrived at the club as the sixth most well paid manager in the Premier League and fans naturally gave their thoughts to that.
I have no idea how accurate that report is, but bottom line you pay for success and has Hasenhuttl already not proven that he’s worth more than three Guido Carrillo’s?
Given the huge difference a decent manager makes £6m is anything but 'whopping'. What it is, about the cost of a backup fullback? Or about half the amount of wages we will need to pay our 3rd choice keeper before his contract is up. Best £6m the club could spend. #saintsfc

£115,000 a week, find that hard to believe with the clubs spending record but fair play if that’s what we’re paying him. Best manager we’ve had in a long time

I’m not so sure!! Works out to be £115k a week!! Can’t see us paying that to be honest
